About Us

Our Mission

At the Moberg Institute for Research and Education (MIRE), we believe that technology must serve both human progress and human dignity. Our work explores artificial intelligence and emerging technologies with a focus on their impact on people, communities, and society. We study not only how systems can interoperate, but how they can be designed with transparency, responsibility, and ethical foresight.

By publishing our research openly, we seek to contribute to a future where innovation is shared, where technology strengthens collaboration, and where progress is never separated from human values.

Who We Are

MIRE was founded by Vicktor Moberg and Madelyn Pierce.

Vicktor is a software engineer with a background in AI development, systems integration, and applied research. Vicktor’s journey began with a curiosity in hacking and software engineering, but found himself as a chef with over 15 years of experiences in various restaurant kitchens and spending time as Jesuit Novice. He then attended a coding bootcamp where he learned web development and how to keep learning about new technologies. All of these experiences inform his conviction that technology must be built not only for efficiency but for meaning, service, and trust.

Madelyn has a background in clinical research, neuroscience, and Catholic theology and philosophy. She has worked in a variety of research settings, both directly with patients and behind the scenes as part of regulatory and compliance teams- coordinating between Internal Review Boards (IRBs), doctors, sponsors, and research coordinators to ensure ethical standards, institutional protocols and standards, and study protocols are maintained and practiced.

What We Do

Our current areas of focus include:

  • AI Interoperability: Protocols for embedding exchange and cross-model communication.

  • Agent Architectures: Building flexible systems for reasoning and orchestration across tasks..

  • Ethics and Society: Exploring the intersection of technology, faith, and human responsibility.

  • Public Education: Sharing our findings, tools, and resources with the public.

Our Structure

Moberg Research is a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation, incorporated in Ohio, and is currently applying for 501c(3) status. Our Board of Directors meet in compliance with Ohio state and U.S. federal law and may be found below.

Looking Forward

We envision a future where MIRE expands from a single-founder initiative into a collaborative institute—partnering with academics, independent researchers, and industry to develop standards and tools that benefit the AI ecosystem at large.

If you share this vision, we invite you to connect with us.
